holiday cookiesThe holidays are fast approaching, and everybody is on a shopping spree for gifts, decorations, food, and anything else that can make this holiday season a merry one. But in the midst of all of this holiday spending, have you asked yourself how merry your financial situation is?

If you’re like most people, it probably isn’t too merry. But we’ve prepared some tips to make your financial situation merrier this season!

Set a Spending Limit

No, it shouldn’t be the other way around. You should first identify how much you’re willing to spend for this season and budget accordingly. “But the holidays only come once a year! Why not loosen up?” Well, it comes only once a year, yes, so don’t blast all your money for one day!

Buy in Bulk

Have lots of kids expecting gifts? No worries! Instead of buying individual toys, buy in bulk since many shopping centers offer assorted items in a big box, which you can buy at a fairly cheap price.

Consider Gift Alternatives

Instead of buying gifts, why not make it more valuable by creating it, such as by making cookies, brownies, or crafts, with ingredients/parts you can buy at a lower price. Also, providing the gift of time and effort by volunteering at assisted living centers or at charities will surely warm your heart.

Remember the Reason for the Season

The holidays are not all about gifts, food and other expensive activities. So instead of focusing on material things, make the holidays worthwhile by making sure you spend enough quality time with your family.  You don’t need expensive gifts and food – what really matters is that you are having a great moment together.

Holidays don’t need to be expensive, and they sure need to be fun! But don’t leave your finances without any attention. Make sure to use these tips to make this season more enjoyable and worth remembering and call us to get assistance. Have a great holiday!
